Who We Are

  • Ethiopian Health Informatics Technology Professionals Association (EHITPA) is an organization dedicated to advancing the field of health informatics through education, advocacy and collaboration in Ethiopia established in 2019GC.
  • It is legally registered and Certified by the Government of Federal democratic Republic of Ethiopia Agency for Civil Society Organization Accorded legal personality on CSO’s proclamation No, 1113/2019 to promote the development and practice of Health informatics in Ethiopia.
  • EHITPA ‘S purpose is to bring together professionals from various disciplines, including Healthcare, Technology, and Data Science to drive innovation and improve patient outcomes.

Our
 Vision

The EHITPA seeks to grow and nurture a collaborative country level and above Biomedical and Health Informatics community that encourages and supports to improve health for all and Use of Health Informatics Technology.

Objective

The objectives of the EHITPA are to sensitize the Ethiopian medical community to the benefits of Health Information Technology (HIT) to bring about awareness and ensure greater utilization of HIT in healthcare facilities across the length and breadth of Ethiopia and also

  • To promote the contribution of health informatics to the development of Ethiopia.
  • To promote the advancement of Health information technology (HIT) in Ethiopia.
  • To provide a forum for exchange of ideas among professionals on health informatics.
  • To influence and ensure, through the HIT/HI practice use of Health data in health care system, the standard for quality service and products of health informatics in the country.

MISSION

•     To develop the area of health informatics in Ethiopia by encouraging professionals to work together, be innovative, and strive for excellence.

•     To create a robust network of health informatics experts, encouraging the exchange of knowledge and the development of capacity, and supporting legislative initiatives that advance the use of health informatics in healthcare delivery.

•     To improve healthcare services by leveraging technology and data-driven solutions to their fullest potential by utilizing state-of-the-art technology and industry in health informatics which improve healthcare and the general well-being ofEthiopians.

GOALS

  • Creating a workforce in health informatics that is knowledgeable and competent through professional development, education, and training.
  • Promoting the nationwide adoption and application of health informatics systems at medical facilities.
  • Using cutting-edge technology and industry best practices in health informatics to help Ethiopian healthcare services grow and improve the general standard, effectiveness, and usability of medical services by means of the proficient application of health informatics techniques and instruments.
  • Encouraging cooperation and information exchange between researchers, policymakers, health informatics experts, and other healthcare industry stakeholders

Leadership and Governance

  • The current governance structure is equated to the leadership which is provided by 7 elective positions of a President, Vice-President, Secretary General, Treasurer Head, Treasurer, Members Affair, and Regional coordinator.
  • These positions are deputized through elected office bearers. A team of seven elected officials provide distributed but coherent support to the leadership team.
  • These officials are intended to provide specialized focus to various technical, administrative and strategic operations and interests of EHITPA.
  • This team is therefore ultimate authority in the conduct of EHITPAs affairs and it represents the entire membership of EHITPA. The term of office is currently set to a three-year period.
